Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026 Calls on Young Innovators to Make a Difference

By

Samsung Solve for Tomorrow 2026 is back, encouraging students from public science high schools nationwide to turn their creative ideas into meaningful solutions, with nearly PHP 2 million worth of prizes awaiting the top teams.

Samsung’s Solve for Tomorrow returns to the Philippines for its fourth year, reaffirming its commitment to empowering young Filipino innovators to use science and technology to create positive change. In partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd), the program encourages STEM students to identify challenges within their communities and develop innovative solutions that address real-world needs.

Now in its 16th year globally, Samsung Solve for Tomorrow continues to inspire young changemakers to tackle pressing issues through science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The competition is open to students in Grades 8 to 10 enrolled in government-managed Science High Schools across the Philippines, providing them with a platform to share their ideas and transform them into practical solutions.

Nearly PHP 2 million worth of prizes will be awarded to the winning teams, their schools, and teacher-advisers. The Grand Prize is valued at PHP 730,000, followed by PHP 595,000 for the Second Prize and PHP 465,000 for the Third Prize. Meanwhile, each of the remaining teams in the Top 10 shortlist will receive PHP 20,000 in cash prizes.

How to Join

Interested participants must form teams of up to four students, accompanied by one teacher-adviser, to develop a STEM-based proposal addressing challenges related to community development, social change, or environmental sustainability. Submissions must follow the prescribed format and may be prepared in Word, with a maximum length of 3,000 words or seven pages.

Proposals may be submitted as a Word document of up to seven pages or as a PowerPoint presentation containing no more than six slides. All entries must be converted to PDF format, with a maximum file size of 40 MB.

Participants are encouraged to think outside the box and explore how technology can transform their ideas into practical innovations that address real needs in their communities. The competition features three key themes:

Environmental Sustainability through Technology

This category challenges students to apply STEM concepts in developing creative ways to reuse, recycle, and repurpose materials into useful products. The goal is to minimize waste and encourage environmentally responsible practices.

Social Change through Tech and Sport

Under this theme, students can explore how technology and sports can create positive social impact by supporting education, entrepreneurship, and inclusion. Their ideas should help open doors to new opportunities and empower the younger generation.

Solving Community Problems with AI

Students are invited to harness artificial intelligence (AI) to create practical and innovative solutions to challenges affecting their communities. This theme also promotes critical thinking, social responsibility, and the development of technology that benefits society.

The deadline for submitting entries is November 2, 2026, at 11:59 PM. Applications must be submitted through the official Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Philippines website.

Entries will be assessed according to several criteria, including innovation in design, community relevance, practicality, STEM application, sustainability, and the clarity of the proposed solution.

The 10 shortlisted teams will be revealed on November 16, 2026. Each team will receive guidance from a Samsung coach to further develop and improve its proposal before presenting the final solution to a panel of distinguished judges on December 7, 2026. Samsung Philippines will announce and recognize the three winning teams on December 15, 2026.

The other seven teams included in the Top 10 shortlist will each receive PHP 15,000 in cash for their team and an additional PHP 5,000 for their teacher-adviser.

Enabling Changemakers

Since its Philippine debut in 2023, Solve for Tomorrow has provided students, teachers, and schools with opportunities to develop creative ideas into meaningful innovations that benefit their communities.

One notable example is the previous year’s winning project from Cavite Science Integrated School, which developed a solar-powered buoy equipped with water-quality sensors to help monitor the health of mangrove ecosystems. Other promising projects have included an egg-sorting system and an affordable, sustainable pest-control solution designed to help farmers minimize their use of chemical pesticides.

With artificial intelligence continuing to evolve, Samsung encourages young Filipinos to embrace technology with purpose, responsibility, and creativity. Through its various competition themes, the initiative inspires students to develop forward-thinking solutions to real-world challenges and become catalysts for positive change.

Students interested in joining this year’s competition can find the complete guidelines and submission details at the official Samsung Solve for Tomorrow website. For further announcements and updates, follow Samsung Philippines on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
